We invite you to exhibit at the 44th Annual Chiaha Harvest Fair, to be held on the banks of the Oostanaula River in Ridge Ferry Park, near downtown Rome, Georgia on Saturday, October 25 and Sunday October 26, 2008. (Hours are 10 A.M.- 5 p.m. both days.) Emphasis of the Show To have a well-balanced show of quality crafts and fine arts, exhibited and sold at individual artist booths, combined with a traditional fall festival flavor provided by music and food. Profits from the festival fund art scholarships and community art projects. The Chiaha Guild is dedicated to promoting the arts and art education. Entry to Fair Artists will be considered for entry by: Submitting 3 slides or photos of art to be exhibited and one of booth set-up Printing and completing fully the Official Entry form Paying booth fee and separate non-refundable jury fee at time of application Enclosing a stamped self-addressed envelope Mailing Entry form by the deadline of August 15, 2008. You will be notified of acceptance or rejection by August 31, 2008. Booth and Jurying fees Booth fee of $125 is charged for a booth approximately 12 x 12. A double booth (approximately 12' x 24') is $235. The booth fee is refunded to you if you are not accepted to the festival. A separate $10 fee must accompany your application and is non-refundable. Commission & Taxes No commission is charged on the sale of your artwork and artists must handle sales tax according to their individual status. The current tax rate in Floyd County is 5% Georgia state tax and a 2% local option sales tax. Set-up & Security Set-up for artists booths will be Friday, October 24 from 1p.m. to 7p.m. and Saturday, October 25 from 6:30 to a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Two uniformed police officers will be on duty in the park Friday and Saturday nights. Exhibitors are strongly urged to setup on Friday evening. The Chiaha guild is not responsible for stolen or lost items, even though every precaution will be taken to secure your property. Booths Booths must be manned at all times during the festival. Artists must provide all display frames, tents, racks, tables, etc. to display and sell artwork. Two or more artists may share a booth if the work of the artists is similar. Please list all individual names on the application. Hospitality Our Artist Hospitality Committee will serve complimentary coffee and donuts Saturday and Sunday mornings. Also, if you are traveling alone and need assistance in any way, members of this committee are available to help you. Festival Favors The Chiaha Guild will provide a 22 x 11 sign with the artists name(s) as listed on the application form. Also you will be given a t-shirt as a souvenir of the festival. Acceptable Categories Painting, drawing, sculpture, pottery (no slip mold ceramics), photography, needlecraft, weaving, leather, metal crafts, wood, glass, mixed media and other approved crafts will be accepted. All work must be original by the exhibiting artist. No reproductions, no unlimited prints, no hobby kits, etc. will be accepted.
